Shipping ropes
Steel wire rope plays an important role in deep-sea towing. As operating conditions and vessel size can vary widely, it is critical to select a suitable wire rope to warrant a safe and efficient passage.
What ropes to use?
Synthetic ropes
HMPE (High-modulus polyethylene) fibres are produced by gel-spinning ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). It has an extremely low coefficient of friction and is extremely resistant to abrasion.
Mooring lines
This mooring line is a mixed or composite rope of high tenacity polyolefin and high performance polyester. A special marine finish is applied to further increase the wear resistance in a marine environment.
Steel wire ropes
Most cranes come with a recommended type of wire rope to use on the different functional components. Proper application of the wire rope to each crane function is necessary to extract best performance, prevent accident, and avoid damage to the equipment.
About
Steel wire ropes
Steel wire rope plays an important role in deep-sea towing. As operating conditions and vessel size can vary widely, it is critical to select a suitable wire rope to warrant a safe and efficient passage.
For steel wire rope maintenance, we use our high quality lubricants.
Mooring ropes
Mooring ropes require high strength and high elongation to absorb shocks. Another important requirement is very high resistance against abrasion. Flexibility and good grip are important for managing the lines like making knots. We advise mooring ropes made of polyester.

Our range of synthetic ropes are the result of product optimization in view of production efficiency, price competitiveness and market requirements.
Our services
Selecting the right wire rope for mooring is important for optimum performance and safety. It is crucial for oversized vessels whose numbers are increasing OCIMF strongly recommends the use of 6 × 36 class drawn galvanised wire rope with Independent Wire Rope Core (IWRC) as mooring lines. TEHO’s range of 6 × 36 class wire ropes strictly follows the EN10264-2:2002 standard for galvanisation, as well as the other OCIMF guidelines.
